Luiz moved to Arsenal from Chelsea on transfer deadline day for a cut-price of £8million.
After the loss to Liverpool, the former Blues defender took to Instagram to apologise to Arsenal fans for his part in the defeat.
"Life is tough and football is tough also sometimes. But I know one thing, I will never give up,” he said.
"Was always like that my life...I came here with a goal, and I will fight until the end for that.

Martinelli, though, was one of the first to show support for Luiz, whose move to Arsenal has been met with polarising opinion.
"Você é fera irmão”, which can be translated to “you are a beast, brother."

Manager Unai Emery said after the game: “It was not all we wanted to do in the match because we wanted to keep the ball more, but their pressing was very strong. The second half the key was the penalty.
