Coutinho managed just 21 goals in 71 games across all competitions for Barcelona during his time there.
The Spanish giants made the decision this summer to let him leave on loan, as the club looked to cut their losses on the flop.
After being offered to a host of Premier League teams, he was believed to be close to a move to either Tottenham or Arsenal, but rejected both offers.
It is believed that he would only have come back to the Premier League if he were able to join Liverpool.

And now, Klopp has hinted that he did actually want to bring the Brazilian back to Merseyside.
“It sounds a bit strange, but we could not afford it,” Klopp told Goal.
“We have already spent the cash that we got for him.
"We were reluctant to hand him over [last January], but Barcelona forced us with money, so to speak.
