What Man Utd will do if Real Madrid make £180m bid for Paul Pogba before European deadline
MANCHESTER UNITED are fearful that Real Madrid could return for Paul Pogba before the European transfer deadline, leaving them unable to sign a replacement.
Pogba needs a 'through the roof offer' to leave United says pundit
The Old Trafford hierarchy thought they’d weathered the storm in terms of interest in Pogba this summer, but they are braced for further movement before the beginning of next month when the transfer window closes for the rest of the continent.
Before the Frenchman returned for pre-season he was away in Tokyo with Adidas and told media that he was keen on a fresh challenge.
That put Real Madrid and Juventus on red alert but neither could stump up the cash that United were looking for.
Reports in Spain have claimed that Zinedine Zidane could walk away from the Bernabeu if he does not land Pogba before the European window closes.
But according to The Mirror, Manchester United are prepared to hold firm and turn down any offers for the midfielder, even if their £180million valuation is reached.
That’s because he remains a key figure in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rebuild and despite Pogba’s reluctance to stay, the Norwegian is confident that he can get the World Cup winner enjoying his football again.
Speaking after the 4-0 opening day victory against Chelsea on Sunday, Pogba admitted there has been talks with the club over his future.
"There have been words,” he told RMC Sport.

“We always stay on that question mark.
“I’m in Manchester, I'm having fun with my team-mates, I want to win matches."
Paul Pogba has shown an exemplary attitude ever since agent Mino Raiola told The Times that his client was in the process of leaving the club.
Unlike Romelu Lukaku, he played a full part in United’s pre-season tour of Australia, China and Norway.
