West Ham: Pedro Obiang praises manager Manuel Pellegrini
Jurgen Klopp is looking for someone to back up Scotland international Andrew Robertson after Alberto Moreno’s departure to Spanish outfit Villarreal.
Max, 25, came through the Bayern Munich youth academy and is the son of former German international striker Martin, who was a silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
He has attracted the interest of his fellow countryman Klopp after earning a reputation as one of the most consistent full-backs in the Bundesliga over the last couple of seasons.
Barca are also in the market to strengthen the left-hand side of their defence this summer and Max is on their shortlist as well.
The European champions will need to move quickly with Barca looking tie up a deal before next weekend before moving onto other transfer targets.
West Ham agree fee
West Ham United have agreed a £10m deal that will see Pedro Obiang join Italian outfit Sassuolo.
The Equatorial Guinea international will fly straight to Italy from the Hammers' pre-season tour of China to complete the formalities.
Obiang joined West Ham from Sampdoria four years ago and almost joined Fiorentina in January but the deal fell through because the Londoners couldn’t find a replacement.

Wolves deal on the edge
Wolves' bid to sign AC Milan’s Italian international striker Patrick Cutrone is on the verge of collapse.
Wolves have had a bid for the £22m rated hitman accepted as they look to beef up their front line this summer.
They want Cutrone, who scored nine times for the Italian giants last season, to provide competition for Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota.
Milan are keen to off-load several players including Cutrone to fund their own moves in the transfer market but the player isn’t keen on a move to the Black Country.
Brighton near sale
Brighton are locked in talks with Belgium outfit Club Brugge as they look to off-load South African striker Percy Tau who is struggling to get a work permit.
The Seagulls signed Tau from Mamelodi Sundowns last summer but had to loan him to Belgium second division side Union SG who are also owned by chairman Tony Bloom.
Tau, who has three years left on his Brighton deal, was voted the best player in Belgium’s second tier last season after scoring 12 times attracting the interest of Brugge.
