Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke set for crunch transfer meeting with Real Madrid supremo
ARSENAL owner Stan Kroenke will meet Real Madrid president Florentino Perez about the possible transfer of Dani Ceballos next week.
Dani Ceballos wants to move to a London team says pundit
According to ABC, the two club supremos will hold crunch talks about Ceballos’ future next Wednesday ahead of the International Champions Cup encounter between the Gunners and Real.
However, it seems like the Spain international can only be signed on loan without a buyout clause that will also see the north London club paying his wages in the mean time.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking to offload Mesut Ozil and replace him with someone else as the German star doesn’t fit in his plans and his contract is very expensive.
However, there haven’t been many offers for Ozil yet and Emery has been handed a small transfer budget of only £45million plus fees from players sold.
Ceballos costs almost £27m, and the Gunners will want to strengthen in other areas as well this summer.
Therefore, a loan deal could be the best case scenario for Arsenal in the current market.
And Real Madrid may not be against that prospect as they could profit from that exchange.
Ceballos would get some valuable experience in a Premier League club and the La Liga giants wouldn’t pay his wages.
Emery has reportedly requested that Kroenke seals the deal once he meets with Perez in Maryland.
Ceballos joined Real Madrid in 2017 from Real Betis’ reserve squad and is now considered as one of the Spanish club’s most promising young talents.
The 22-year-old has amassed 56 appearances so far for Los Blancos and has scored five goals.
If he stays in the Santiago Bernabeu then he is expected to get plenty of opportunities under Zinedine Zidane this season.
But Emery is determined to restore Arsenal in the top four after a near three-year absence from the Champions League and sees the young Spaniard as a player who could help him achieve that goal.
If Ceballos leaves Real then the club could then sell James Rodriguez, who is being targeted by Atletico Madrid.
