The Repair Shop fans switch off BBC series after ‘bad’ scheduling conflict

The Repair Shop fans were forced to choose between two channels as the series returned to the BBC with a new episode.

The Repair Shop: Guests gets emotional after item is fixed

Fans of The Repair Shop were left conflicted as a new episode of the heartwarming series aired at the same time as a historic event.

Viewers took to social media and revealed they were forced to switch off the beloved restoration programme to tune into the eagerly awaited 2024 Euro semi-finals.

While many were moved to tears to watch treasured items restored to their former glory, others were engulfed by the nail-biting match between England and The Netherlands.

During the episode, Jay Blades and his team of experts met Silviano who arrived at the workshop with her mother’s vintage Bible from the Victorian age which was falling apart.

They were also moved by Alan who had a water-damaged wooden table which was passed down from his late grandfather.

The team also met an emotional David who brought his late partner’s beloved ring which was damaged in a fire.

The brother and sister duo Steve and Paula wheeled their parents’ unicycle in hopes of Tim Gunn bringing it back to life.

Despite the tear-jerking stories and restorations, fans took to X with their struggle between watching the match and tuning into The Repair Shop.

A convicted @Tom_Twits penned: “If the Dutch score again however I might re-tune … The Repair Shop is on BBC1.”

While @EuroEvEliza did the opposite and wrote: “First Dutch goal and I switched over. The Repair Shop never looked so good.”

@Tre_Animation complained: “I swear this is a new #TheRepairShop. Showing it same time as the footie is a bit of bad scheduling isn't it? Still I guess I can't complain as it's what I'd rather watch. I can get the footie progress from my neighbour cheering whenever we score.”

As @melvynprior remarked: “Just put the TV on. Don’t think The Repair Shop will have many viewers.”

Each guest was moved to tears as they returned to the workshop and saw their restored items including David who stated: “This has been the best day since Caroline passed away 18 months ago.”
