Man Utd: Bruno Fernandes ’blown away’ by club says fan
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is struggling to convince chief executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the rest of the board to increase their offer for Fernandes, according to reports in Portugal.
The Norwegian is looking to overhaul his squad this summer after United missed out on Champions League football when they finished sixth in the Premier League last season.
Fernandes scored 32 goals in 53 games last season for Sporting CP and as a result of several big clubs across Europe being interested in their player, the club are reportedly holding out for £65m for the midfielder.
And according to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha, Solskjaer is struggling to convince the United board they should pay more than £50m for a player who has never played in the Champions League.
United have already made two signings this summer, with Daniel James’ £15million move from Championship side Swansea followed by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s £50m transfer from Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils have also seen midfielder Ander Herrera leave on a free this summer to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer and Solskjaer believes Fernandes is the ideal replacement.
However, the report claims that the club would only sanction such a high fee for the player if Paul Pogba left Old Trafford.
Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from United this summer after he admitted he is looking for a "new challenge".

Bruno Fernandes scores STUNNING strike against Benfica
Although the club appear reluctant to sell the World Cup winner they are adamant they will not let him leave the club for less than the £89million they paid Juventus for the player back in summer of 2016 and as a result have placed a reported £150m valuation on him.
Real Madrid appear to be in pole position in the chase to land Pogba, although his former club Juve have also expressed an interest in a reunion.
One problem Real face in finalising a deal for Pogba is that boss Zinedine Zidane has already spent over £250m on new players this summer and Los Blancos might find it difficult to pay United’s asking price and the player’s current wages, which are believed to be £290,000-a-week.
However, according to publications in France the player is willing to reduce his salary demands to facilitate a move away from Old Trafford.
United began their pre-season in Australia with a 2-0 win over Perth Glory with Pogba being given a run out in the second half as Solskjaer made 11 substitutions at the break.
