“Playing at Ajax, you have to be a quality player. So, of course, he could [play for United], no doubt about it.
“He could fit into any top team at the moment.”
Express Sport understands United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is planning to rebuild his squad in the summer and signing a new centre-back remains a priority.
Solskjaer is also keen on Jadon Sancho and Declan Rice and might need to find a replacement for Ander Herrera, whose contract is up in the summer and yet to be renewed.

Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford also remains uncertain after he admitted it would be a dream to play for Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
Zidane responded by saying he would love the chance to work with his fellow Frenchman and Olsen has urged the club to cash in on their record signing if he really wants to leave.
“I think in the old days (Alex) Ferguson (it) was the same.
“If you don’t want to play for the club then don’t stay! And I think that’s the case too with Pogba.

“Of course you would continue without him but it would be great to see him stay aswell, because he is an important part of the team.”
United are said to be keen to keep hold of the World Cup winner but reports claim he is demanding a pay rise to £500,000 per week in line with what top-earner Alexis Sanchez earns.
Pogba’s current deal is worth closer to £300,000 per week and runs until 2021.
