Luke Shanley on Rangers targets Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara
That would mean they did not join the Glasgow giants until the end of the season.
Sky Sports reporter Luke Shanley confirmed medicals were taking place for Jones and Kamara.
But he said unless a deal is done between the clubs, they would not feature for Rangers until next term.
“We understand that Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara have been having medicals with Rangers today with a view to signing pre-contract agreements,” Shanley said.

“Both out of contract in the summer with their respective clubs.
“They are players, certainly Jordan Jones is one that’s been on Rangers’ radar for a while.
“With Kilmarnock doing so well, Jordan Jones is a big part of that this season.
“They are two men that Rangers want to sign and it looks as though they’ll have to wait at least until the summer, unless any deal can be done before that.
“But we understand they were undergoing medicals today and Rangers are looking to tie them down.”

Jermain Defoe is set to join Rangers on an 18-month loan and Shanley confirms a deal to bring Steven Davis, who is currently the Southampton club captain, back to the club is still in the pipeline.
“They’ve been able to sign Jermain Defoe on that 18-month loan deal,” he continued.
“He is somebody the Rangers fans will want to see and also Steven Davis, a return of an old face potentially. That is one they also want to see.
“A man who has been there and done it before.
“So Rangers certainly looking to add a bit of experience and also looking to the future with some of the players [they want].”
