Marcus Rashford: Gareth Southgate was RIGHT to say this about Man Utd star - Tyler
ENGLAND manager Gareth Southgate is right to say Marcus Rashford’s form in front of goal is not a cause for concern.
Marcus Rashford needs to ‘sharpen up’ says Vinnie Jones
That is according to Sky Sports’ legendary commentator Martin Tyler.
Marcus Rashford was guilty of missing two huge chances in England’s Nations League clash with Croatia last Friday.
The game, played behind closed doors, ended 0-0 despite the visitors having the best of the opportunities against the World Cup runners up.
Rashford did score in both of England’s matches in the previous international break - against Spain in the Nations League and the friendly win over Switzerland.
Marcus Rashford has got two goals in his last three games, he should have had four goals in the last three games.
However, he has only netted once for club side Manchester United in seven games so far this season.
But ahead of the return match against Spain tonight, Gareth Southgate has defended his attacking trio of Rashford, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.
Southgate claims he is not worried at the chances his side have missed and is happy they are being created.
And Tyler, who is also assistant manager of non-league side Woking, says Rashford and co. just need a bit of luck to go their way.
Marcus Rashford scores IMPRESSIVE goals in England training
“I don’t think so (it’s not a concern),” he told Sky Sports News.
“It’s finishing isn’t it.
“Marcus Rashford has got two goals in his last three games, he should have had four goals in the last three games. He doesn’t need telling, he knows.
“Harry Kane hit the bar (against Croatia), you’re talking about millimetres.
“Eric Dier hit the post, you’re talking about millimetres. How that didn’t bounce back to another England player I don’t know.
“It’s very rare that England fail to score. So it would be nice to think that they could really get some ammunition because they’re going to need some I think.
“This is the team (Spain) that has already beaten Croatia 6-0.”
Rashford will start again this evening alongside Kane and Sterling.
