Man Utd news: Why Jose Mourinho to Bayern Munich CANNOT happen yet - Marcotti
JOSE MOURINHO would NOT be able to walk straight into another top job if his time at Manchester United ends badly.
Jose Mourinho has been told he WON’T be sacked says pundit
That is according to European football expert and ESPN FC pundit Gabriele Marcotti.
Mourinho is still the favourite with the bookies to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.
Manchester United beat Newcastle 3-2 in their last outing in a dramatic comeback win at Old Trafford to give Mourinho some breathing space.
But with a trip to unbeaten Chelsea up next this Saturday, Mourinho’s future remains uncertain.
I don’t think Mourinho’s going to become the Bayern manager in the near future
Marcotti was asked whether Jose Mourinho could possibly be the next manager of Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga side struggling under Niko Kovac.
However, Marcotti reckons the 55-year-old will have to take an “intermediate job” before going to a club like Bayern.
“I don’t think Mourinho’s going to become the Bayern manager in the near future,” he said.
“I think if his time at United ends badly, and right now it’s more likely that it will rather than it won’t, I think he’s going to have to take an intermediate job before he comes back and takes a really big job.
“I think he’s burned too many bridges.”
Bayern Munich are currently sixth in the Bundesliga, losing two of their first seven league games under Kovac.
But Marcotti does not think Germany boss Joachim Low, who is under pressure himself, would be a good replacement either.
“So you’re replacing one underachieving coach with another one?” Marcotti said when asked about Low taking over at Bayern.
“I don’t think Jogi Low is going to get sacked, unless something really, really bad happens.
“But more to the point, when you’re doing badly as a club, the way Bayern have been of late with Kovac, the answer isn’t to go and bring in another guy who’s doing badly someone else.
“The answer is to either stick with your guy or to find somebody else you think could do better.”
