The 41-year-old and his co-host Declan Donnelly were both thrust in to the spotlight when eccentric Danish magician Niels Harder asked one of the to join him for a death-defying stunt.
After watching the hopeful questionably gyrate to the likes of Beyonce’s Crazy In Love and Alesha Dixon’s The Boy Does Nothing, Dec wasted no time in volunteering poor Ant for the job.
“No way was I going on there with him,” Dec grinned.
And his judgement proved to be right as Neil brought out a rackety guillotine while licking two slices of cucumber before popping Ant’s head on the chopping block.

What a way to go
“What a way to go,” he sighed, before the blade shot down and sliced the vegetable, but thankfully kept the Saturday Night Takeaway star's head in tact.
“You are mad, bonkers, but I love you,” beamed Alesha.
Simon Cowell, 57, followed: “You took those three minutes and you made every second count.”

However, dancing Dane faces tough competition already as the opening instalment of Britain’s Got Talent certainly lived up to its title.
Before putting his neck on the line for the sake of good TV - quite literally - Ant was brought to tears by a choir with a heartbreaking message, while a 15-year-old school girl from Milton Keynes blew The Voice judge Jennifer Hudson out of the water with her rendition of And I Am Telling You.
Britain’s Got Talent returns tonight at 8pm on ITV.
