First look at Downton Abbey filming as huge star joins cast
Downton Abbey will be returning next autumn with the likes of Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern and Jim Carter returning to the period drama.
The Crown star Dominic West has been spotted filming alongside other stars for the third Downton Abbey movie after swapping Highclere Castle for Highland cattle.
The 54-year-old actor is reprising the role of Guy Dexter in the third film, and he was seen shooting scenes at Odds Farm Park in Wooburn Green, Buckinghamshire.
Dominic was joined on set by Robert James Collier, who plays Thomas Barrow.
He was also accompanied by American actor Alessandro Nivola who is new to the franchise. He has starred in Jurrasic Park II, The Eye and American Hustle.
The scenes are believed to be the final ones filmed for the new Downton Abbey film.
As the pictures were being taken, members of the crew were seen giving a cheer and round of applause as filming appeared to wrap at the farm.
Director Simon Curtis looked in great spirits as he was seen congratulating others on the set.
As well as actors, the set welcomed a Berkshire pig and some Highland cows which were gently coaxed into shot by a farm hand.
According to reports, the third move is set to be released on September 12, 2025.
While little is known about the plot, the last film, A New Era, ended in the late 1920s with the tragic death of Lady Violet (played by Maggie Smith).
Officially known as The Dowager Countess of Grantham, Maggie's character had to pass the torch to her granddaughter Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery).

Addressing Lady Violet's demise, leading actor Hugh shared with Yahoo UK: "People who've watched the show over the years and have loved it will miss Maggie Smith's presence.
"She doesn't step out of the shower and it's all been a dream, she is gone.
"But, I think there's so much warmth and fun to enjoy, and new elements as well — which I won't spoil — that I think it'll certainly be the best iteration of the film versions yet."
