Last month, the Olympian gymnast missed Team GB’s Rio Olympic celebrations and a meeting with the Queen to visit mosques after appearing to mock Islam in a video posted online.
Rumoured to be entering the jungle as far back as August, the athlete previously teased: “There's something in the pipeline.
"I have got a meeting when I get back about a potential show. You guys will probably have a field day with it.
"But I am looking forward to it, it's something I have wanted to do for a long time."

However, bookmaker Coral has pushed Smith’s odds out to 7-1 from 5-1 to win the show, but say punters are convinced the 27-year-old will be a part of this year’s line-up.
With bets pouring in already, Gogglebox's Scarlett Moffatt is the early favourite to win the reality TV show at 11-4.
Craig Charles is in second with odds at 5-1, while Carol Vorderman and Ola Jordan are at 16-1 and Conrad Murray at 40-1.
“Before being embroiled in controversy, Louis Smith was a very popular candidate for the jungle, with many punters backing him for the crown,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

Louis Smith: "What I did wasn't racist"
“However, he is now friendless in the betting so we have decided to push his odds out, making Scarlett Moffatt and Craig Charles the front-runners.”
However, an ITV spokesperson told Express.co.uk that the Olympian hasn’t been confirmed for the programme, adding: "Any names suggested for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! at this stage are just pure speculation."
Other rumoured names reported to be joining Smith down under include Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, Larry Lamb, Phillip Schofield, Tom Fletcher and Nigel Farage.
I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! returns to ITV at 9pm on November 13.
