BBC star Monty Don left fans worried for his safety after he became a victim of the recent storm. The 69-year-old Gardeners world star took his dog for a walk on Monday morning but was unable to walk down his usual route after it flooded.

The Met Office issued a recent weather warning for rain, wind, snow, ice, fog, thunderstorms, lightning and extreme heat. Overnight the heavens opened and left mass flooding up and down the country.

Monty took to social media to update fans on his current situation. Writing on Instagram he told his 1.3 million followers: “This is usually a road..." Accompanied by the dramatic caption he shared an image of his dog stood standing in what appeared to be a stream.

Fans were left shocked and proceeded to ask him if he would ever consider moving as the area was deeply affected by the downpour. Leaping to the comments section one user wrote: “Have you ever considered moving into a boat…I am amazed all your plants don’t drown!”

“Oh my word, that is a lot of water!,” added a second. While a third shared: “Wow it’s doing a great impression of a fully fledged river.” A fourth chimed in and wrote: “I thought about you when I heard the weather this morning.”

Monty presents the popular gardening show from his home Longmeadow in Herefordshire, which viewers have fallen in love with.

His home is breathtaking, boasting acres of greeneryrsitting on a sprawling estate with the property featuring a traditional red-brick exterior.

It is no surprise that fans often note his beautifully pruned box hedges, and perfect outside space to host his friends and family.

The British horticulturist and broadcaster has been on the show for more than two decades and built up a loyal fan base. He took over from Alan Titchmarsh after he wanted the network to grant him a bigger coverage of the show.

Alan, 75, told us: I would be unable to undertake the presentation of the show to the best of my ability led me to step aside.”

He then added: "What I was asked to do was make limited appearances on BBC One rather than the coverage on both BBC One and BBC Two with which I had previously been involved

However, he recently opened up and shared his feelings towards his potential successor when he one day calls time on his presenting days. Speaking to The Times, he said: “Gardening has traditionally been a conservative — note the small ‘c’ — world and there is a male-dominated view of horticulture.”

“I think anything that encourages new thoughts, new people, new ideas is healthy, but when I said that I was actually thinking about a woman successor,” he continued.
