Bargain Hunt: Stall owner tells blue team to 'get out'

Bargain Hunt is back on BBC One with the antiques experts offering their invaluable advice to the red and blue teams. Expert Danny Sebastian has years of knowledge, having been a self-taught antiques dealer for two decades.

He started at a very young age scouting out auction houses and jumble sales with his mum. One of his first jobs was as a market trader, for which he had the gift of the gab.

Viewers first spotted him on the TV series Del Boys and Dealers and he went on to become a regular expert on Dealing with Dickinson. Eventually, he ditched his career as a market trader for one in antiques.

When Danny is not filming for shows like Bargain Hunt or spending time with his partner, he is travelling all across the country hunting out treasures to sell through his business, Afrojunk. His business is based in Wellingborough and one of his latest finds was a French vintage portrait.

Danny describes himself on X, formerly Twitter, as a "decorative dealer and a lover of people", who is "very sustainable, very lucky and very planty". Vintage art is certainly one of his favourite things to sell through his business.

On how he got into a career in antiques, he explained: "It was fate! I was at an auction down south and stumbled across a room that was being prepared for a Mid-20th Century sale and all that I saw I just loved.

"Straight away I thought ‘I’m getting into this game; I’d love to sell this tackle’."

The star opened up about a potential career move he is yet to make, when asked what he would do for a living if he wasn't in the antiques trade.

He explained: "I’ve always thought of having my own bar, which could possibly still happen, but if I weren’t in the antiques game, who knows, I could be cleaning windows or flogging Ferraris."

Rum is his tipple of choice, as he offered insight into how he likes to spend his free time.

"I honestly don’t get a lot of free time. So much to do and so many places to be. I do enjoy dog walks, dining, dancing, music, travel and the occasional drop of rum," he said.

On his guilty pleasures in life, he admitted he was partial to a nice pair of shoes.

"I do like a good pair of shoes - quality, style, design and comfort! Maybe my love comes from me being born in Cobblers County or is it because, with big slabs of meat, it’s important to have tidy feet," he added.

Bargain Hunt airs on weekdays on BBC One at 12.15pm
