'Two Americans wouldn’t be as sensitive' David Coulthard DEFENDS Top Gear Cenotaph stunt
DAVID COULTHARD has defended Top Gear after they suffered a huge backlash for performing stunts in front of a war memorial in London.
David Coulthard last night defended Top Gear's Cenotaph stunt
The former Formula One driver spoke out about the Cenotaph controversy and told people to "move on", while attending the Royal Television Society Programme Awards last night.
His comments come after Matt LeBlanc and Ken Block were seen doing donuts extremely close to the monument earlier this month, footage which the BBC have said they will not use.
When asked about the incident, the 44-year-old said: "I think it was obviously a mistake and I haven’t seen all the breakdown, but maybe having two Americans in the car who wouldn’t be as sensitive to occasion and logistics is my first benefit of the doubt."
David continued: "If I’d been in the car, we should definitely know better. But I live in a foreign country so there’s plenty of times I go, 'I’m sorry, I didn’t know that'."

The father-of-one, who fronts Channel 4's Grand Prix coverage, went on to say that after host Chris Evans' apology, the public should now forget about it.
"It was clear to me there was a very quick response, a very clear apology and I think that’s all you can do. It shouldn’t have happened, but it did. You move on," David added, the Daily Mirror stated.
During the star-studded ceremony, the ex-racing car driver was named the sports presenter/commentator of the year.

He was accompanied to the bash by his wife Karen Minier, who turned heads in a floor-length lace gown and a fluffy black jacket.
