MATT SMITH, who played the 11th Doctor Who in the long-running series, has revealed he is "excited" to see what writer Steven Moffat does next.

The actor said: "I'm sad he's leaving Doctor Who, I think he's done so much for it and so much for me."
He continued: "There's a wonderful writer coming in and as always it's about the regeneration and reinvention of things."
Speaking to Juliette Boland from The Timey Wimey Show, his Pride and Prejudice and Zombies co-star Douglas Booth added that Steven "is pretty much Doctor Who".
Matt agreed: "I just feel very privileged that I got to work with what I think is the greatest writer, one of the greatest writers to have been involved in that show.

The BBC recently announced Steven had quit his role as lead writer and executive producer of Doctor Who, with his final series due to be broadcast in 2017.
Steven explained: "Feels odd to be talking about leaving when I'm just starting work on the scripts for season 10, but the fact is my timey-wimey is running out."

He will be replaced by Chris Chibnall, creator of Broadchurch, which stars former Doctor David Tennant.
