'I wouldn't do it' Mary Berry reveals why she really turned down Strictly Come Dancing
MARY BERRY stole the show when she popped up during the Strictly Come Dancing final, but the 80-year-old culinary goddess has revealed why she turned down the chance to dig out her dancing shoes on the show.
Mary Berry turned down Strictly Come Dancing
She’s a master in the kitchen but a disaster on the dance floor, Mary told the Radio Times, and it sounds unlikely she’ll be tearing it up on the BBC ballroom anytime soon.
When asked what was the last show she’s turned down, the Great British Bake Off legend answered: “Strictly. I do enjoy watching it but I wouldn’t do it myself.”
She added: “My husband and children would kill me! I have two left feet and would make a terrible fool of myself.”
Thankfully Mary has agreed to return to the Bake Off tent to judge and tuck into an array of baked goods cooked by a host of star-studded guests.
Mary and Paul will be reunited for Sport Relief does Bake Off
My husband and children would kill me
From Pop Idol Will Young to Mrs. David Cameron, Samantha - 16 aspiring bakers will try their best to impress Mary and her partner in crime Paul Hollywood all in the name of Sports Relief.
The Prime Minister’s wife described the experience as “terrifying”.
She admitted to the magazine: “I’m scared that we will have to bake something that I haven’t even heard of and I won’t have a clue what it’s meant to look like!”
Samantha Cameron will be putting her pastries to Mary and Paul
Samantha is said to be a huge fan of the culinary competition and she even referenced the series when she was on the general election campaign trail with husband David, 48, earlier this year.
The couple, who have been married since 1996, were rallying a group of apprentice bakers and Samantha said she "felt like Mary Berry".
As for David, he recently admitted he’s rather “fight an election than make pastry from scratch”.
