Loose Women viewers slam Dr Christian Jessen for not wearing gloves during live HIV test
DOCTOR Christian Jessen has been slammed by viewers after doing a live HIV test on today's Loose Women without washing his hands or wearing gloves.
Dr Christian Jessen was a guest on today's Loose Women
The 38-year-old tested Coleen Nolan and Saira Kahn live on air, but fans noticed that he switched between the pair without using any protective equipment.
One person posted: "no gloves, no handwashing or gel in between doing 2 separate people's blood! Tut tut @loosewomen," as another added: "can't believe he didn't wash his hands before and after each test. Not to mention the lack of gloves…"
A different Twitter user shared: "I can't believe the @DoctorChristian didn't use any Protective Equipment doing the live H.I.V test," as one wrote: "very disappointed to see @DoctorChristian did both tests with no gloves!"
Despite the backlash though, some viewers were keen to point out that Christian's lack of gloves took the attention away from what really mattered - breaking the stigma surrounding the virus.

Viewers noticed Christian's lack of protective equipment
One person pointed out: "URGH! People moaning that @DoctorChristian isn't wearing gloves on @loosewomen #loosewomen. Completely missing the main #HIV issue."
Noticing the criticism, Christian made sure to take to Twitter after doing the blood tests, to say that not wearing gloves was a "conscious decision to enable him to do tests live on air".
He also added on the show that "there was no way he could have worn protective equipment and get the test done live".
Doctor has addressed the criticism on Twitter
Loose Women ladies and Christian want to break the stigma surrounding HIV
No I didn't wear gloves to do #hiv tests on @loosewomen today. It was a conscious decision to enable us to actually do tests on live on air!

Big thank you to my @loosewomen @IamSairaKhan and @NolanColleen for letting me do #HIV tests on them today! So important and so easy to do.

The Loose Women ladies decided to do the HIV test live on air to highlight World Aids Day tomorrow.
Before taking the test, both presenters confessed that they were "nervous".
Coleen admitted that her family were "shocked" when she told them, but they were more shocked about her doing the actual HIV test, rather than the fact that she chose to do it on television.
Loose Women returns tomorrow at 12.30pm on ITV.
