If you're at a loss for what TV show to binge-watch next, the answer may lie in a "brilliant" BBC series that is heading to Netflix this week. The suggestion comes from "TV obsessed" TikTok user, Danni, whose account is devoted to promoting the best the box has to offer. "This psychological thriller series is being released on Netflix this week, but it's already available to watch on ITVX and it's one of the best I have ever seen," she enthused in a video.

Originally airing on the BBC in 2019, The Victim is just four episodes long and tells the story of a bereaved mother whose son has been killed. "She sees a man who she believes is responsible for the killing of her son," Danni said of lead character, Anna Dean - played by Kelly Macdonald.

The TikTok user points out, however, that many others in the show believe it's a case of mistaken identity, creating a classic 'Whodunnit' crime scenario. "We as the audience are left to figure out is it him, or isn't it him?" Danni continued.

She continued to enthuse: "It's got a bit of everything. It's so sad, it leaves you guessing... it's just such a brilliant watch."

"Go and watch this immediately!" Danny urged, before clearing up any confusion over the broadcaster. "It’s an original BBC production! It is on ITV now and it will be on Netflix," she said.

Set in Edinburgh and Port Glasgow and also starring John Hannah and James Harkness, the series' synopsis teases: "Anna is accused of revealing her son’s killer’s new identity online and conspiring to have him murdered. Hard working family man Craig Myers is the victim of a vicious attack, after being identified online as a notorious child murderer.

"Is he simply the tragic victim of mistaken identity; or the dangerous killer he is suspected of being? Opening on day one of a criminal trial in Edinburgh’s High Court, The Victim follows the legal proceedings, while also covering the events leading up to the trial."

It adds: "The story is told through the eyes of the plaintiff and the accused and offers a constantly surprising and twisting perspective on who is really 'the victim'." The Victim will be on Netflix from March 7.

Writing in response, one past viewer exclaimed: "The Victim is the best drama ever, my fave for years." A second person hailed: "Watched it few years ago, wow never been so affected by a TV programme."

A third added: "Ah I remember that, was such a good watch. I might watch it again." And a fourth TikTok user told Danni: "It’s so good! Thanks for the recommendation."
