A producer working on BBC crime drama The Capture admitted she has her “conspiracy theorist hat on” when thinking about Jeffrey Epstein and the millions of pages of files that were released from the late paedophile’s records. The Capture producer Rosie Alison spoke candidly about the scandal at an exclusive Q&A for the release of the third season of the hugely underrated BBC crime drama.

In series three, released a full four years after the conclusion of the second series in 2022, fans can expect further deep fake conspiracies, shootings and incredibly tense moments as Holliday Grainger reprises her role as Rachel Carey. Series three is framed entirely around the release of the ‘Carey cam’ – a device aimed at stopping deep fakes in their tracks.

With the rise of AI in the real world, it’s easy to see the chilling parallels drawn by the show – and Holliday herself admitted it “reframed” how she considers real-life events.

Speaking at the event, attended by Express.co.uk, she said: “I kind of reframed how I think about world events and the news, and I can’t help but have my conspiracy theorist’s head on whenever I read about another powerful man making a stupid decision.

“I’m like, surely there’s got to be another 20 steps into something that we’re not thinking about… I don’t quite know what to believe any more.”

Producer Rosie then chimed in: “It’s so interesting with the whole Epstein saga playing out that we’re all just constantly thinking, ‘Well, who is behind this?’

“It’s almost like this extraordinary story with this almost fictional character who, somehow we just keep asking, ‘Who was behind this?’ That’s one of the things that The Capture asks.”
