Vernon Kay issues Tess Daly announcement minutes into The One Show
BBC's Vernon Kay issued an announcement about his wife Tess Daly live on air.

BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay issued a surprise statement as he hosted The One Show on February 25th. Starting off the show, Vernon welcomed viewers as he revealed he was going to be presenting alongside his wife Tess Daly for the night. The pair, who tied the knot back in 2003, haven't hosted a show together in 20 years. Vernon told viewers: "There's no Alex Jones or Roman Kemp tonight, because they're at Windsor Castle, they're filming the BBC's 500 Words, but don't worry, because look who we have here," as he turned to Tess.
He continued: "Someone I know who will definitely keep me in check. We have TV royalty Tess Daly, everyone," as the studio burst into applause. Giggling, Tess said:"I'm thrilled to be here, it's such a special show, and we have a stellar line-up for you tonight," as she went on to introduce the guests.

Viewers rushed to social media to comment on the show making TV history, as one said: "Tess Daly is looking so radiant on tonight's #TheOneShow. I refuse to believe she is 56."
Another added: "Seeing Tess Daly on a TV show other then Strictly feels very weird. We'll have to get used to this now she's left."
A third chimed in: "Tess Daly & Vernon Kay presenting #TheOneShow NOW - first time they've presented together as a married couple in just under 20 years."
A fourth wrote: "Brilliant! Please can we have #AlexJones for #Strictly and #Tess for #TheOneShow."

This is Tess's first time back on the BBC since she had her final appearance as host on Strictly Come Dancing during the Christmas special of the beloved dancing competition.
She and Claudia Winkleman announced they had decided to both quit the show after over a decade of hosting together, with Tess first presenting the show alongside Bruce Forsyth before Claudia stepped in. Their replacements for the show are yet to be revealed, but The One Show presenter Alex Jones is a firm favourite.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC1.
