'Harrowing' Netflix true crime doc on 9-year manhunt for serial killer is now streaming
Netflix has dropped a "nightmare" true crime documentary featuring interviews with the police and victims' families.
A "harrowing" true crime series has landed on Netflix, though viewers are warned it makes for deeply unsettling viewing.
Manhunt: The Child Snatcher first broadcast on Channel 5 in 2023, but has now captured an entirely new audience following its Netflix premiere on Monday, February 23.
Scottish-born serial killer Robert Black abducted and murdered four young girls throughout the 1980s whilst employed as a delivery driver for a London-based poster firm.
His occupation proved instrumental in allowing him to snatch children using his van, transporting them hundreds of miles from their homes before abandoning their bodies.
For nine years, Black sat at the centre of a nationwide manhunt, exploiting his job to travel across different police jurisdictions and evade capture.
His victims were Jennifer Cardy, nine, Susan Maxwell, 11, Caroline Hogg, five, and Sarah Harper, 10.

The two-part documentary offers a "harrowing" account of how Black evaded justice for so long, before ultimately being brought to book.
Its official synopsis reads: "Victims' families and police recount their nightmarish memories of the years-long hunt across the UK to arrest serial killer Robert Black."
Black was 43 when a member of the public witnessed him attempting to abduct a six year old girl in Stow, Scotland, in 1990 — thankfully, the child was rescued.
He was subsequently arrested and convicted of three of the four known murders in 1994.
Black wasn't convicted of murdering Jennifer Cardy in 1981 until 2011, meaning he effectively evaded justice for that offence for three decades.
He received life sentences for the murders of the other three girls before being handed a minimum 25-year term for Cardy's killing.
Black died aged 68 in 2016 at Maghaberry Prison near Lisburn, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
The BBC reported at the time that Devon Police were mere weeks from charging Black with the murder of 13 year old Genette Tate.
