How many years did Jodi Hildebrandt get in prison?
Netflix's Evil Influencer documentary follows Jodi Hildebrandt and Ruby Franke, who were convicted of aggravated child abuse in Utah

Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story has just landed on Netflix, adding to the streaming giant's extensive collection of true crime documentaries. The series delves into the chilling tale of a Utah life coach found guilty of severe child abuse after teaming up with content creator Ruby Franke.
Hildebrandt, the founder of life-coaching firm ConneXions, was a notable figure within the Mormon church and became an integral part of Franke's life. Franke, a mother of six, was infamous for her contentious disciplinary methods.
Hildebrandt became obsessed with 'rectifying' the vlogger's family, leading to a shocking incident in 2023 when Franke's 12 year old son managed to flee from Hildebrandt's residence, where he and one of his younger sisters were being held captive. Security camera footage shows him pleading with a neighbour for food and water, and there was evidence that the children had been restrained.
Both Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt were subsequently apprehended and charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse. Hildebrandt eventually admitted to four counts and is currently incarcerated at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City.
Her first parole hearing is scheduled for December 2026. Here's everything you need to know about her sentence and potential time behind bars.

Each of the four counts Hildebrandt was convicted of carries a prison term of one to 15 years, which were ordered to be served consecutively.
This means Hildebrandt must serve a minimum of four years, with a maximum potential sentence of 60 years.
However, under Utah law, consecutive sentences cannot exceed 30 years, except in cases involving life imprisonment or capital punishment.
Consequently, Hildebrandt, who is in her mid-50s, faces a maximum of 30 years in prison, meaning she would be in her 80s upon release.
Ruby Franke received an identical sentence and is incarcerated at the same facility, though the two are being housed separately.

Does Jodi Hildebrandt have children?
Jodi is mother to two children, both now adults, who are understood to be estranged from her.
In Ruby Franke's daughter Shari's book, The House of My Mother: A Daughter's Quest for Freedom, Jodi's children are referenced.
The book reveals: "In 1999, when she was 26, Jodi's ex-husband filed for divorce. Jodi got full custody of her children, who were nine and seven at the time, and in her books, she admitted finding it hard, managing her energetic young kids."
Jodi's niece, Jessi, has spoken candidly about their aunt, with whom they were placed as a teenager. In an interview with ABC News, Jessi claimed: "She would lock me in this room and write out my sins on paper.
"She made me sleep outside in the snow. She duct-taped me. I wasn't allowed to speak to anyone."
They further stated: "Just because you reframe it as 'tough love,' or 'tough parenting,' that's not love. That is abuse."
