Davina McCall's surgeon wells up sharing 'worst case scenario'

Davina McCall is trading glittery gowns for wilderness challenges with her revolutionary BBC dating programme Stranded on Honeymoon Island – and it's completely unprecedented.

Fans will see complete strangers tie the knot at first sight, then immediately venture to an isolated island equipped with nothing except their wedding attire, an outdoor toilet, and three weeks to evaluate their bond.

"I like to think I'm not too high-maintenance," Davina confesses, before revealing her breaking point: "The loo. I'd have a whopper problem with the poo! I don't want to hear farting and pooing – I still want to be fancied."

The 56-year-old host understands taking chances perfectly, reports the Mirror. Just last year, she endured brain surgery following a tumour scare – and now declares life feels more vibrant than ever.

Speaking before the programme's debut, Davina declared "I'm f***ing great!" she radiates. "I got the all-clear in May and it's not coming back. It's made me want to absolutely live life to the max and grow old disgracefully. You don't know what's around the corner, so do everything you've ever wanted."

That bold approach made Stranded irresistible to decline. "These couples are taking a massive leap of faith – literally off a boat," the mother of three clarified.

"It's such an extreme way to fast-track a relationship. You see who someone really is when things get tough – how they handle problems, whether they're resourceful. That's attractive! Confidence is key in this experiment."

When it comes to her new show, for Davina, it's all about the emotional journey: "There's deep learning – about yourself, about relationships. Even if they don't find The One, they come away knowing what they want and need."

The drama isn't confined to the beach hut either. "There's Couples Cove," Davina hints. "All the pairs start socialising... and then some eyes start wandering. It's carnage."

Hinting at what's to come, she beamed: "Addiction, You'll watch one episode and you're hooked. It's emotional, raw and full of twists. These people are honest, brave and totally committed."

Speaking about the prosepct of appearing on the show herself, she said: "I'd miss a bath, music and probably a good book. But no tech? Brilliant!" she chuckled.

When speaking about the show hopefuls and what it'll take to suceed Davina kept it straightforward, commenting: "Friendship. Fancy each other. Trust and respect – that's the holy trinity."

While Davina takes a more laid-back role than in other shows – appearing at the beginning and then again for the finale – she confesses she couldn't help but mother the couples a bit: "They'd been on such a journey, they needed Mummy."

"We go on honeymoons all the time, but without getting married," she said of her and celebrity hairdresser and presenter Michael. "Yeah, we're in the honeymoon period even after all these years. I really, really...I couldn't be more happy. And sometimes there's an idea of, why change anything?"

Davina has been married twice before and is mother to Holly, 23, Tilly, 21, and 18-year-old Chester. Her second marriage to concluded after 17 years and she revealed her romance with Michael in 2019.
