Ginny & Georgia season three teased in Netflix trailer

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Ginny and Georgia season 3

Netflix's gem, Ginny and Georgia, is gearing up for its new season, and actor Scott Porter has opened up about the future of the beloved comedy-drama and what could lie ahead, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Chatting exclusively with Reach Screen Time, Porter, who portrays Mayor Paul Randolph, said about the shift in dynamics: "What I really love about going into season four is the reversal of roles between Paul and Georgia.

"She's kind of the town hero, and he's the outcast being looked down upon, not trusted and being spoken about in whispers behind his back."

He continued, "So seeing how the two of them react to their new roles and how they assume their new roles is going to be really fun."

But that's not all—the star spilled more beans: "I'm hoping that when the two of them interact in season four, which I think we will have to see, they still live in the same small town together, we get a little bit of that banter that we had in seasons one and two."

After the bombshell of season three, where Georgia was cleared of Tom Fuller's murder, thanks to Ginny changing Austin's testimony, Paul found himself on the back foot post-divorce with his mayoral career on the line.

Reflecting on Paul's mental state at the end of season three, Porter said: "He can't believe the rest of the world is seeing her as some sort of innocent victim in all of this and he's some how the villain in the public perception, when all he did time and time again was ask for her to be honest with him.

"So he could protect their union, he could protect his career and he could protect their family."

Porter went on to describe the shifting dynamic between Paul and Georgia: "Paul's relationship with Georgia is one of surprise because of the flipping of the roles, one of very high distrust, and I believe Paul is a hurting person. And people who are hurting often want to hurt others."

Despite this, Porter insisted that Paul would not seek revenge, but would rather concentrate on himself through some "serious soul-searching" and rebuilding his life, adding, "I hope we see him rebound and come back with some resilience and that old charm that we saw from Paul in seasons one and two."

The star went on to confirm work on season four would begin "pretty soon", enthusing, "We're pretty excited to get back into work".

Although a fourth season of Ginny and Georgia is being planned, writing for the new series is still underway, leaving the story open to any direction.

However, the show's creator, Sarah Lampert, has hinted that season four will centre on the theme of cycles.

Additionally, Georgia will confront her past after receiving a warning call from her imprisoned father.
