Emmerdale's newest policeman has disturbing link to deceased character fans 'didn't know'

Emmerdale fans have been left impressed by DS Foy, who was assigned to Belle and Tom King's case following months of domestic abuse.

Emmerdale: Belle strikes Tom with an axe

Emmerdale's latest addition to the police force, DS Foy, has been winning over viewers who are now clamouring for him to become a show regular.

Tasked with investigating Belle and Tom King's harrowing storyline, where Belle hit her spouse with an axe in self-defence after enduring prolonged domestic abuse, DS Foy is on the case. Belle, having admitted her actions to the authorities and released on bail, had to reveal the extent of her suffering, prompting Tom to attempt erasing any incriminating evidence.

However, DS Foy isn't easily fooled and senses that Tom might be adept at deception.

Robert Cavanah, who brings DS Foy to life, has been receiving heaps of praise from fans for his portrayal. Interestingly, this isn't Robert's first stint on the ITV soap; he previously played Ian Chamberlain, Val Pollard's brief romance, from January to April 2014.

The seasoned actor's resume extends beyond Emmerdale, with roles including Tommy in EastEnders back in 2004 and parts in BBC's Doctors, The Royal, as well as sharing the screen with Angelina Jolie in the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider sequel.

Yet, it's not just his acting gigs catching the audience's attention. Robert also featured in a Staysure travel insurance commercial, which has irked some viewers to the point of venting their annoyance on social media.

One exasperated fan expressed their disapproval with a 'nope' GIF, while another demanded, "And then there's that Staysure advert on telly with COVID 19 cover that needs either ditching or updating."

One viewer expressed their disdain, quipping: "They need to do a remake of the Staysure advert..." while another vented about the irritation: "Very annoying advert."

Nevertheless, the portrayal of DS Foy by Robert has garnered acclaim among fans, who have eagerly conveyed their praise on Reddit. A thrilled fan remarked: "How much do we love DS Foy?! Finally a policeman who can actually do his job in a soap!!!"

Another lauded his tactical brilliance with the comment: "Played Tom like a fiddle. 'Oh, you set up a camera? Well, it might've recorded Belle abusing you then!' Daamn, had him sh***ing his pants!" while yet another playfully dubbed DS Foy a "daddy" in a spirited comment.
