TM: Sharon Marshall reveals Jodie Prenger as her TV replacement

Sharon Marshall, a regular on This Morning, announced on Wednesday that she would be taking a two-week hiatus from the show. During a discussion about recent soap opera developments, Sharon disclosed that her temporary replacement would be Coronation Street's Jodie Prenger, who also joined via video link to discuss her upcoming appearance.

"I have got a bit of killer news as well," Sharon hinted, with Rylan responding: "I am a bit annoyed you're off having a little rest."

"I am," the soap expert confirmed. "I am going to have a couple of weeks at home with my daughter, Betsy."

She reassured viewers: "But we are not going to leave you with no soapbox, we wouldn't do that to you."

Rylan interjected: "Well, whoever in a million years could fill your shoes," reports the Mirror.

"Well only the queen of the cobbles herself, we have got the magnificent Jodie Prenger," Sharon declared as Jodie appeared via video link on the Corrie set.

The hosts were delighted by the news, with Rylan saying: "Jod, it is so lovely to see you. You have done some incredible roles in your time, Jodie, but have you ever thought you'd be filling the shoes of Sharon Marshall?"

"No and I am really nervous," the soap star confessed before adding: "I hope you're a size seven as I don't want to stretch them as you always wear really nice shoes."

"You can only do your best," she concluded as Sharon told her: "You are going to be terrific, darling, we are looking forward to it and I hope the team looks after you."

"I was so excited when I heard you got it, are you going to be giving us a bit of Corrie gossip when you come in? Get a bit of goss on Glenda?"

Jodie replied: "Of course, I am going to go around knocking on all the dressing rooms to find out the really juice goss don't you worry."

As the segment wrapped up, Rylan affectionately said to Sharon: "I'll miss you."

It was also disclosed that Jodie would be joining them in the studio for a fortnight instead of tuning in through a video link.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
