Louise Minchin has revealed a TV show that she'd "love to do" three years after leaving her stressful BBC job.

The ex-BBC Breakfast presenter, 56, opened up about her more relaxed life to Best magazine after leaving the show in 2021. The journalist has now turned her attention to fiction, having recently penned a thriller novel, titled 'Isolation Island'.

Louise hasn't completely turned her back on TV, however, as she occasionally stands in for Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show. She also hasn't ruled out a return to the BBC.

The I'm A Celeb star even explained which specific show she'd "love to do", which turns out to be an adventurous challenge that requires physical fitness and resilience - but she wouldn't do it alone.

When asked if she could envision a return to reality TV, Louise said: "I could! The one I would really love to do is Race Across the World - I'd love to do that with one of my daughters - it would be so much fun."

She continued: "Or maybe Rob Rinder. We did a challenge together in the desert for Sports Relief. He's incredibly fit. He's hard as nails."

Louise, who shares two daughters, Scarlett and Mia, with her husband, David, retired from the morning show in September 2021 during an emotional episode with co-star Dan Walker.

In April, she confessed that her stint on BBC Breakfast was "hard" and "stressful", highlighting the early mornings and the impact on her sleep, reports NottinghamshireLive.

The early morning show's gruelling schedule, which features a daily 6am until 9am air time, meant that some hosts were forced to rise at the eye-watering time of 3:15am.

She explained at the time: "What the stress was having to concentrate for three and a quarter hours when you've got so many things going on. News stories are changing all the time doing 12 different interviews on 12 different subjects."

Louise said she felt "pressure" considering there were "six million people watching" and she and Dan both found the early mornings "really hard".

She also admitted that she missed her colleagues including Sally Nugent, Jon Kay, Dan, Carol Kirkwood and the broader breakfast team.

In August, it was revealed that Louise, Joel Dommett, Rob Beckett and Ellie Taylor would be battling the Gladiators in a celebrity special of the iconic series.

The seasoned triathlete, who has represented Team GB in her age group, revealed that she had watched the show for years and dubbed it "terrifying fun".
