Dan Walker has finally opened up after being cleared of allegations following an investigation by Channel 5.

The broadcaster who joined the programme in 2022 after leaving BBC Breakfast slammed the complaint as “completely incorrect” and confirmed he was “completely exonerated.”

The former Strictly star was at the centre of the probe after a colleague complained about his behaviour in March.

As a result, network bosses were forced to recruit investigators who found that Dan, who is said to have fully cooperated, had done nothing wrong.

Following the investigation, the 47-year-old was cleared as there was a “lack of evidence to support the allegations.”

A Channel 5 spokesman said: “ITN commissioned an independent external expert to investigate these allegations but none were upheld.”

An investigator also stated: "There is a lack of evidence to support allegations,” as the outcome became official earlier this year.

Dan broke his silence on the subject and told The Telegraph: “I haven’t really talked about it, but that was fully investigated and everything was completely incorrect and I was entirely vindicated by an independent inquiry.

“So yeah, that’s not nice, but you hold on to what you know the truth is and ultimately the truth is the important thing.”

Dan continued to say he knows he's “not that person” before admitting that being under “scrutiny” is “difficult” and affected his home life.

While saying it is crucial the industry does come under scrutiny, he said it must remain correct and is “important that we hold on to what is true and what is right”.

Earlier this year, Dan opened up about the online abuse he'd faced and shared: “People tell me horrible stuff every single day, they shout at you.

“They send you terrible messages. They tell you what they think of you particularly when you interview politicians, and it genuinely doesn’t affect me."

The newsreader added that he felt “valued by God” and that gave him a “sense of perspective” and helped him not allow the negativity to “drag me too low”.
