Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Daisy Kelliher, one of the break-out stars of the Bravo show, has hit out at claims that any of it is “scripted”. The Chief Stew, who has appeared in seasons 2 and 3 of the popular show and is also a yachting legacy, was quick to defend the show when asked about how it all works behind the scenes.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other Reach publications, Daisy opened up about her time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht as she prepared to greet guests at the Southampton International Boat Show this month. Daisy will be hosting a cocktail-making masterclass on September 14.
Quizzed about some behind-the-scenes facts fans may not be aware of, the Netflix star highlighted the authenticity of the show. She said: “The most important thing is, you know, people always think it's scripted.
“They think it's directed… It's not. It certainly isn't. And, you know, I often get asked, ‘How do you ignore the cameras?’
“And that's something where every single cast member comes on and wonders how they're going to do that,” she continued. “But when you're in such a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, it is quite incredible…

“Like, how the human psyche will just, you know, concentrate on what you're doing and not on your peripheral.”
Praising the Below Deck series, she continued: “What they've created is quite amazing. And, you know, it doesn't need a script, it doesn't need direction.
“Because of that, it shows what we do when we're in a high-pressure environment: we just are just thinking about that one thing.
“It's very real; it's very organic. And, yeah, a few bits of entertainment. And I hope people… Most people take it lightheartedly,” she added. “Some people take it very seriously.”
While Daisy couldn’t confirm whether she would be partaking in season 4 during the interview, she did reveal fans can come and meet her this month.
Daisy was speaking ahead of the Southampton International Boat Show, the biggest boating festival in Britain, which takes place between September 13 and 22.
