All Creatures Great and Small's Rachel Shenton on father’s cancer diagnosis
All Creatures Great and Small is making its way to Netflix following its success on Channel 5, as the beloved escapist drama is now in its fifth season. The show was inspired by the written works of Yorkshire vet, Alf Wight.
Otherwise known as James Herriot, the renowned vet recalled his experiences working with animals in the countryside. The TV adaptation stars Nicholas Ralph as James, with Rachel Shenton as his love interest, Helen.
The couple's romance continues to blossom throughout the series and is inspired by the real-life marriage between Alf and his wife. Actress Rachel was honoured to revive some of the couple's fondest memories.
The 36-year-old actress, from Staffordshire, started off her career in shows like Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road. She went on to win an Academy Award for her short film, The Silent Child.
She wrote, produced and starred in the film, which she co-produced with her husband Chris Overton. Chris is a popular actor and filmmaker, and the pair have been married since 2018.

Chris has two producer credits to his name, working on the short films Dalston Heath and Six More Sleeps.
He is noted as a director on The Silent Child, which was released in 2017 and follows the story of a profoundly deaf six-year-old girl.
As for his acting career, he has appeared in shows such as Doctors, Hollyoaks, Casualty, DCI Banks, Pride and Drifters.
Rachel confirmed back in 2018 she had married Chris during a private ceremony in the summer, eight years after they had initially met through their work.

The wedding came just as the couple were accepting their Academy Award for their inspirational short film.
The star told The Sun: "We got married not that long ago in amongst all the madness. It was a very private event, we wanted to keep it private, but I am so happy though."
The two met back in 2010 when Rachel starred in Hollyoaks as Mitzeee Minniver and Chris took on the role of Liam McAllister.
On how they remain humble amid their awards success, she added: "Chris and I are a bit boring and normal so I don't think it has changed that much day to day really.
"But it has certainly changed us creatively in terms of what we want to do and the meetings we've found ourselves in and doors that have been opened."
