Michelle Keegan, now 37, has starred in an array of high-profile programmes over the years, including the 2024 Netflix smash-hit thriller Fool Me Once which was watched by 37 million people in its first week alone.

The Manchester-born star has also featured in the shows Brassic, Ten Pound Poms, Our Girl and Ordinary Lies, to name a few.

However, she started her acting career on the cobbles playing feisty barmaid Tina McIntyre in the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.

She portrayed Tina between 2008 and 2014, starring in almost 900 episodes before the character tragically fell to her death after being pushed from a balcony by Rob Donovan (played by Marc Baylis) who beat her with a lead pipe.

Express.co.uk has unearthed throwback pictures of a fresh-faced Michelle from her soap opera days to mark Michelle's birthday today (Monday, June 3) and reflect on her acting career.

Michelle, who played Tina on Coronation Street, opened up on the Graham Norton Show about her character's death.

The actress explained the soap was a "massive learning platform" for her as a professional.

She said in the same interview, which aired in January 2024: "I took a long, long time to decide to leave – it was very hard. "And then when they told me they were killing off my character and there was no going back I thought I would never work again. My security was ripped away which made me push forward and work harder.”
