On Sunday’s instalment of BBC Breakfast, hosts Nina Warhurst and Ben Boulos were speaking about Glastonbury Festival, which is unfolding this weekend. Although there’s been a string of incredible artists and performances, Cyndi Lauper left some viewers concerned.

During her set, many people highlighted the performance was plagued with issues. In a segment on the BBC show, entertainment reporter Colin Paterson caught up with the singer not long after she took to the stage.

Speaking to Colin, the 71-year-old confessed she had fun on stage despite a few blunders. Cyndi said: “I had a few technical things, wardrobe difficulties but I had fun!

“You know sometimes you’re up there and the sound is like ‘Woah’ but, it doesn’t matter because the spirit, the spirit is there and that was great.”

During her routine, festivalgoers got to see the 80s icon sing many of her classic anthems such as Girls Just Want To Have Fun, True Colours and Time After Time.

Although the singing sensation was seen pulling her trousers up throughout the songs, with there clearly being some sort of wardrobe error.

Making light of the situation, Colin probed: “I’ve never wanted before to lend a popstar a belt! What was going on?”

Admitting the issues, she replied: “My pants were falling down! Eh, you know what are you going to do. There was a wardrobe difficulty there but it was ok.”

Recently, Cyndi revealed she was going to be embarking on a farewell tour next year as she explained to the BBC host her reasons for going on one last hurrah.

She confessed: “I’m strong right now and I can sing. I’m 71, this is it.”

Asking whether she’d be one of those artists who announce ‘last’ tours but continue to do one every couple of years, she heavily slammed the idea.

The star revealed she doesn’t want to be one of those artists who sits on the stage and sings.

Cyndi continued: “That's not fun! I can’t do the trains, planes and automobiles come on, you know what that’s like right?”

After the clip of Colin and Cyndi ended, the camera returned to Nina and Ben back in the studio as they praised her performance.

Gasping at the singer's enthusiasm, Nina quipped: “What energy!”

Ben added: “It’s extraordinary, isn’t it? That crowd is huge, I mean to just be looking out across that on the stage. Although she’s used to it I’m sure.”

Shaking her head in disbelief, Nina added: “Just wonderful.”

Glastonbury is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
