This Morning fans 'fume' as show changes to new format with £2 entry fee

This Morning viewers were left unimpressed with a new game that was unveiled on Monday's instalment of the ITV breakfast programme.

This Morning: Ben and Cat introduce new £2 game replacing Spin To Win

This Morning fans were left seething following the introduction of a new game called Coin Drop, which would require a £2 participation fee. The game was unveiled by hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on Monday's episode (July 1) and angry fans noted it was similar to the ITV show Tipping Point.

The new game, replacing the previously free Spin To Win, promises bigger winnings, with a £20,000 top prize. However, despite the bigger cash prize, viewers took to social media to voice their discontent over having to pay.

One disgruntled watcher posted: "Cannot believe they replaced the free spin to win with a £2 entry game of bl***y plinko #ThisMorning." Outrage was echoed throughout the fan base, with others quipping: "£2 to enter P*** off! #thismorning."

Another chimed in: "Ooooh a new game... S****ing Point #thismorning.", reports the Mirror.

A fourth added: "This s*** has replaced spin to win and there's a £2 fee, no thanks #thismorning."

Entry rules are specific; players must be over 18 years old, apply within a certain time frame, and, of course, pay an entry fee. Diehard viewers felt conflicted, as last week they seemed delighted with the news that Spin To Win, the long-standing stalwart of This Morning's entertainment, would finally make way for something fresh.

"At last," gasped fans before realising they'd have to pay to enter.

They re-shared the snippet online for fans who may have missed the live broadcast.

Cat and Ben introduced the new addition while signalling the end of an era for a well-loved feature.

Ben announced: "Now then, we've some exciting news to share with you. From next week, get ready to play a brand new competition that's landing right here in the This Morning studio."

Cat chimed in with: "Take a look at what the board looks like now".

The audience was introduced to the "Coin Drop" game board, where participants could bag themselves a hefty sum of cash, if successful.

First up to take on the game was Eric, who was hoping to help out his grown-up children if he had a big win.

The lucky caller won big and took home a whopping £10,000 and made history books as the first-ever winner.

Cat beamed: "£10,000 that's not bad, even if he has to share it with the 40 and 50-year-old children, that's great."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
