The well-loved regular cast of Call The Midwife has come together once again as filming for season 13 of the BBC show is officially underway.
This year, the show saw racial tensions start to grow in Poplar following Enoch Powell’s infamous Rivers of Blood, which gave a scathing attack on UK immigration.
Throughout the series, viewers saw many highs and lows, including the sudden exit of Nurse Lucille Anderson (played by Leonie Elliott) and Trixie Franklin’s (Helen George) wedding to Matthew Alyward (Olly Rix).
Although the series ended on a positive note with everybody coming together to celebrate the big day, creator Heidi Thomas teased there are tough times ahead.
She said: “After Trixie’s spectacular wedding, the Nonnatus House community feels more tightly-knit than ever, but life in Poplar has never been a fairy tale.
