Alex Jones left red-faced as she struggles to leave car in bizarre One Show blunder
ALEX JONES returned to present Tuesday night's instalment of The One Show alongside regular guest presenter Gethin Jones. But as the pair made a bold arrival this evening, the host was left red-faced - here's why.
The One Show: Alex Jones called ‘difficult’ by Huw Edwards
The One Show team often choose rather unorthodox ways to liven up the show and today saw hosts Alex and Gethin introduce the show from the driving seat of Sinclair C5, an 80s-style vehicle, which co-star Tim Peake would be doing a segment on later in the BBC programme. However, after the pair introduced themselves, they had to get on with the rest of the show, which saw them have to get out the cars - which Alex clearly found difficult.
The pair made a dramatic entrance this evening, whizzing onto the set in the quirky cars.
Alex told viewers: “Of course, this is the vehicle the Sinclair S5 which you will remember from the 80s, this is the new and improved version - will they catch on?”
As the pair continued to outline the billing for tonight’s show, they had to make their way out the small cars and talk to guest Will Bayley.
However, Alex found it difficult and was left embarrassed as she tried to get up from the vehicle, noting after: “It wasn’t very gracious!”

The pair went over to chat to Will, who was part of the line-up of stars on Strictly Come Dancing last year.
Gethin soon embarrassed his co-star further, telling the guest: “What you don’t realise is Alex couldn’t get out that scooter!”
The table-tennis champion is currently preparing for the Tokyo Paralympic Games, which had to be postponed due to coronavirus.
The hosts later welcomed Will onto the famous sofas and he admitted he found the interview experience weird due to not being with his Strictly partner, Janette Manrara.
“I rely on Janette, she’s always there chatting away... I'm looking forward to this year’s Strictly,” he said.
Alex went on to ask a more humorous question, adding: “Has Will Bayley got any advice for Bill Bailey?”
Comedian Bill Bailey was last week confirmed as one of the 12 celebrities who would be taking part in the upcoming series of Strictly.
Will replied to Alex: “Bluff your way through, I was clearly the worst!”

He detailed how he formed a “club” with fellow contestants David James, James Cracknell, Anneka Rice and Mike Bushell.
Will told the hosting duo: “We stuck together because we were the worst!”
However, he didn’t play down Bill’s potential abilities, adding: “He might be amazing though, he might be really good, who knows?”
Alex probed Will on his most memorable routine from last year, which saw him perform a Couples Choice dance inspired by his childhood.
“It nearly didn’t happen because you had a bit of a freakout?” quizzed Alex.
Will explained what happened, telling Alex: “You watch the intro, watch the video, I went back to Great Ormond Street Hospital that week and I was fine…totally focussed, I’ve got this.”
However, the emotional clip became too much, with Will admitting: “When I started watching - we had to sit on the floor and watch the clip - my bottom lip started shaking!
“It’s live TV you’ve got to get on with it, you’ve just got to bluff your way through,” shared Will.
The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.
