What does the Stranger Things season 3 final trailer reveal?
The new Stranger Things season three promo reveals that the Mind Flayer is back after the kids vanquished it at the end of the previous series.
The trailer begins, however, in a fairground, presumably as part of the July 4 celebrations that feature in the show.
The promo gets its first '80s reference in early, with Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) seen is outfits strongly resembling the Stay Puft Marshmellow man from Ghostbusters.
The preview also seems to see the Mind Flayer speak to the cast in an unidentified voice, saying: "You let us in."
The voice continues: "And now, you are going to have to let us stay."
As this happens, we see Eleven wearing a blindfold with her nosebleeding, suggesting she's taking another trip to The Upside Down, perhaps to discover if The Gate is still open.
"It doesn't make sense," we hear Eleven say, "I closed The Gate."
However, in the new promo for Stranger Things season three, Will (Noah Schnapp) has another theory, which he explains as we see footage of rats fleeing the city and the hair standing up on the back of his neck in a cinema.
"What if he never left," he says, "what if we locked him out here with us?
"He'd want to attach himself to someone again," Will continues, as the trailer reveals Billy, strongly suggesting he is the Mind Flayer's next target, especially in the next show when we see Billy's pupils expand to monstorus proportions.
We hear the mysterious voice say: "And now its time. We're going to end you, we're going to end your friends and we're going to end everyone," as the town prepares for a fight by arming themselves.
However, the Mind Flayer is maybe not the only threat the Stranger Thnigs cast face according to the new trailer.
In one scene, Steve and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) are seen in a laboratory where they pull out a green, glowing core.
We also other rooms of this factory with people in them in biohazard suits and gas masks, as well as a powerful laser, suggesting more shady government operations.
"I need you to trust me," Eleven tells Mike (Finn Wolfhard), a reference to the first series where Mike told her the same thing.
The trailer also shows us another demigorgon, who has pinned Joyce (Winona Ryder) to the floor, while Eleven is seen holding off two Mind Flayer tentacles.
The trailer also teases something very wrong in the food court of the mall, with the kids seen there looking up in horror as Dustin says "holy mother of God" and the lights go out.
In a Jurassic Park homage, the promo then reveals the kids are trapped by the Mind Flayer, though fans will have to wait until July 4 to find out how they escape.
Stranger Things season 3 is released on July 4 on Netflix
