BBC News: Sally Nugent hits out at Dan Walker after he INTERRUPTS interview
BBC BREAKFAST host Dan Walker said sorry to his co-host Sally Nugent after he accidentally ended up disrupting an interview of hers.
BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker apologises for live interview blunder
It came as BBC Breakfast sports presenter Sally interviewed Nick Rust, the Chief Executive of the British Horseracing Authority about the equine flu debacle.
As Nick was interviewed via live video link, the interview was interrupted by the sound of a sneeze off screen.
Although it was unclear who was responsible for the action, it soon became obvious after the BBC interview had ended.
Dan quickly apologised to Sally for what had happened as he said: “I think I need to apologise for a poorly timed sneeze during your interview.”
It looked like the horse was sneezing
“Did that go out on air?” she questioned.
To which Dan replied: “I think it did, quite a few of our viewers on social media…Si was one of those who said ‘did I just see a horse sneeze during the interview?’
“No, it was me sneezing because my microphone was up so therefore it looked like the horse was sneezing.”
“It wasn’t a horse having a sneezing fit,” Sally laughed.
Louise Minchin chimed in to say: “I can confirm it was Dan.”
“Yes, apologies though,” Dan replied.
Sally exclaimed: “Can you believe the conditions I have to work under?
Dan repeated: “Sorry about that.”
The sneeze came just before the show shows footage of a horse, leading some viewers to joke it was a horse who had the noise.
“@mrdanwalker did a horse just sneeze during that interview!? It was great timing,” wrote a fan.
Another said: “Dan is is crushing it this morning !!! Sneezing horse and flight of the navigator #goodjob (think i will be revisiting my childhood later) @BBCBreakfast @mrdanwalker.”
Today also saw Carol Kirkwood present the weather on the programme.
The scotswoman has recently revealed the “terror” she feels about oversleeping when it comes to the days she works as she must get up early.
She told The Times: “I have a terror of oversleeping on working days, which is why I have two alarm clocks. But I’ve never overslept, never been late,”
“I do spend the weekends trying to catch up on sleep, probably because I only get four or five hours a night in the week,” Carol continued.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
