ITV GMB: ‘Oh shut UP’ Piers Morgan rages at feminist guest over banned Christmas song
GOOD MORNING BRITAIN presenter Piers Morgan shouted at one guest on the ITV programme today, telling her to “shut up” over her radical feminist views about a banned Christmas song.
GMB: Piers CLASHES with expert over banned Christmas song
Journalist Daisy Buchanan appeared on Good Morning Britain today to discuss what she perceives as the sexist issues with classic Christmas song and movie Baby It’s Cold Outside.
Aghast at the guest’s opinions, ITV journalist Piers Morgan didn’t hold back as he shut her down in a tense debate.
Keen to understand exactly why Daisy was claiming the song was an affront to women and a “sexual assault in process”, Piers asked her to clarify her thoughts.
“Daisy you’re saying it’s a sexual assault in process and want it to be banned forever,” Piers said, as Daisy replied: “I want radio stations to stop playing this song until the world has changed, like a real drop in sexual assault statistics.”
Shaking his head, Piers and his co-host Susanna Reid offered a clip from the original movie, in which the two characters sing the song.
The debate came as a result of US radio station WDOK in Cleveland removing the song from its Christmas playlist after objections from listeners in light of the #MeToo movement, as told by host Desiray McCray last week.
Some of the lyrics sang: “I simply must go. Baby it’s cold outside. Your lips look delicious. My father will be there at the door.”
Returning to the studio, Piers sniped: “Yeah that really looked like a sexual assault to me Daisy. It was romantic and they’re just flirting.”
Daisy was ready with a response as she noted from the scene: “He’s invading her space, he’s coming up next to her.”

But Piers, 53, was so unimpressed by what he perceived to be the audacity of her comments he told her to “shut up”.
“How can you believe this Daisy?” Piers begged again, as Daisy asked: “How can you as men tell me what women are and aren’t enjoying? How do you know?”
“Who are you to tell every other woman that that’s not harmless?” Piers then countered.
Daisy went on to talk about her own marriage, and assured the presenters: “My husband is very romantic one of the things I love about my husband is he respects me.
“He never ever puts pressure on me to do anything I don’t want to do.”
“When was that man disrespecting that woman?” Piers then pressed, and was left laughing at the response.
“He closed the curtains when she was looking out the window,” Daisy insisted, as Piers cried: “Oh please!”
Finally chiming in to the debate, Susanna smiled in solidarity with the guest.
“Do you know what,” she began. “As a fellow feminist I think it’s a valiant argument but I’m not sure you’ve won it.”
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6am on ITV.
