Pointless: Alexander Armstrong stunned by Curly Watts star's Coronation Street revelation
POINTLESS CELEBRITIES aired on BBC One this evening for a soap star special and host Alexander Armstrong was keen to gather some behind-the-scenes secrets from his guests.
When it came to Kevin Kennedy’s turn to take to the podium to play Pointless this evening, Alexander Armstrong couldn’t help but probe him about his Coronation Street character Curly Watts.
The actor has not starred on the ITV soap since 2003 but that didn’t stop Alexander from wanting to know if he would return.
The host was left rather stunned when Kevin remained tight-lipped about his character.
“Curly Watts, now what became of Curly Watts?” he asked.
Will he ever come back?
“Curly went off up to Newcastle with his police officer lady wife and their young son in 2004, I think,” Kevin explained.
Alexander quizzed: “Will he ever come back?”
“Well I think there is a story in the newspapers at least twice a year,” Kevin began.
“But I can actually tell you if and when it happens, I will be the last to know.”
Alexander was left momentarily speechless by his response before replying: “Oh, okay.”
Unfortunately for Kevin and fellow star Amanda Barrie failed to make it further than the first round of the quiz show.
Amanda and Kevin scored a collective 131 points meaning they had scored the highest.
As a result, Alexander bid farewell to the pair with Amanda apologising for her performance.
“My fault,” Amanda said as she turned to Kevin.
“I apologise,” she added as she was comforted by Kevin.
Tonight’s winners were Shaun Williamson and Paul Henry.
Pointless Celebrities: Charlotte Crosby shouts 'I've been robbed'
It comes after Debbie McGee spilled a Strictly Come Dancing secret on the show last month.
She claimed her previous dance experience was a “disadvantage” in the BBC competition.
Debbie, who was with the Iranian National Ballet, explained: “I think it helped that I knew how to do choreography and learn steps, but other than that, I think it was a disadvantage!”
She then revealed she no longer kept up with her ballet.
Pointless Celebrities continues Saturday on BBC One at 5.50pm.
