Several world leaders are to come together next week for the G7 Summit.

As Italy is leading the presidency of the Group of Seven throughout 2024, the summit is being hosted in Apulia, a stunning southern region in the Mediterranean country.

The seven leaders of the group's members, as well as representatives of the EU and other countries, will come together at a time of heightened tensions, with rising threats coming from Russia and wars still raging in Ukraine and Gaza.

The stage of their event taking place between June 13 and 15, however, will be a relaxing, lavish and award-winning resort and spa in the Savellestri countryside near the southern Italian town of Fasano.

The resort, Borgo Egnazia, replicates the typical historical style of the Apulian region but was built from the ground up ahead of its launch in 2010.

This luxury resort was named after the nearby Egnazia archaeological park.

The resort, owned by Aldo Melpignano, has won several prestigious awards over the years - including the Best Virtuoso's Best Hotel of the Year 2016.

More recently, it was named in 2023 among the world's best hotels by Travel + Leisure.

The resort has 45 acres of land and includes among its amenities a golf course, a Michelin-star awarded gourmet restaurant and a spa.

Borgo Egnazia counts 29 villas - each with three bedrooms, two living rooms, a kitchen and a private pool - and 63 hotel rooms.

The G7 Summit isn't the only headline-catching event hosted at this resort, as in 2012 Borgo Egnazia was chosen as the location of the wedding of singer Justin Timberlake and actor Jessica Biel.

Speaking about the changing luxury tourism industry, Mr Melpignano told Italian daily Repubblica in 2016: "The concept of luxury has changed, people don't go after the pomp, they want to feel well and experience something they are not going to find elsewhere."
