Queen visits Royal Navy frigate to celebrate its 20th anniversary
THE QUEEN has visited HMS Sutherland in West India Dock to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its commissioning.
The Queen visits HMS Sutherland at Thames Quay
She was greeted by Commander Andrew Canale and attend a reception for the ship's company, families, former commanding officers and affiliates.
The Queen then went on board HMS Sutherland, and met a number of personnel on the upper deck before she attended a lunch in the hanger prepared by the Royal Navy chefs.
There was also a group photo, after which the Queen was presented with a posy to mark the end of the east London visit.

HMS Sutherland has spent much of the past 12 months as the Fleet Ready Escort and Towed Array Patrol Ship, a task that requires it to be at very high readiness for operational tasking around the UK.
The ship recently completed a six-week operational work-up in preparation for deployment next year.
