Duchess of Cambridge is most influential when it comes to women's beauty decisions
THE Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton can add another title to her already impressive collection as she's crowned the most influential person on the nation's beauty purchases.
Thirty per cent of British women revealed that they have bought certain products so that they can emulate the pretty royal's look.
Siobhan McDermott, the manager of feelunique.com - who conducted the poll - said: “We have seen first-hand the ‘Kate Effect’ on sales of beauty products. For example, two years ago blonde shades were more than twice as popular as brown tones.
"Immediately after the Royal Wedding we experienced a surge in brown shades and in particular, Kate’s signature Natural Dark Brown colour. It’s now our most popular shade and contributes to brown colours consistently outselling blondes 2-to-1.”
Kate was shown to have twice the influence on women's spending habits than supermodel Kate Moss, who came in a close second.
The Croydon-born star earned 15 per cent of the vote, while everyone's favourite WAG Victoria Beckham came in third with 12 per cent.
One in ten women in the UK revealed that it was reality TV star Kim Kardashian who influenced their beauty purchase, while Jennifer Anniston bagged 8 per cent of the vote.
Speaking of the two top spots, Newby Hands, editorial director feelunique.com added: "Kate and Kate represent two sides of really modern women and between the two of them they cover all style and lifestyle tastes.
"Moss is more party and rock n’ roll, whilst Kate Middleton is more of a perfect wife and role model. Despite their differences they are both aspirational and fascinating."
