Moment late Queen 'scolded' Princess Anne for 'snubbing' Trump in viral moment
Footage showed Donald Trump being 'snubbed' by the Princess Royal during a visit to the UK in 2019.
Queen and Prince Charles meet Donald and Melania Trump
A viral video unearthed from 2019 has shown Princess Anne 'snubbing' Donald Trump during his visit to the UK to meet Queen Elizabeth II in 2019. Video evidence from a Buckingham Palace reception in 2019 appears to show a somewhat annoyed late Queen telling her daughter off for failing to greet Donald and Melania Trump.
The clip initially showed Queen Elizabeth II with a line of dignitaries and the then-Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. The Royal Family were pictured greeting the US president and his wife, with Princess Anne seen on the left-hand side of the screen, waiting to enter Buckingham Palace’s state room.
Queen Elizabeth then gestures to Princess Anne, seemingly directing her towards the American visitors, but instead, Anne spreads her arms and shrugs in response, eliciting laughs from onlookers.

At the time, royal author, Valentine Low, who was not present for the occasion, commented that Queen Elizabeth hadn’t been scolding but rather seeing who was next in line for the Trumps to meet, at which Anne "raised her hands in the air, laughed and said: "It’s just me."
Nevertheless, there was widespread amusement across social media when the video began circulating online. One user on X wrote under the video: "She's saying 'hurry up, I've got my horses to feed!'.
Another wrote: "All I can say is well done, Princess Anne." However, some royal fans think her gesture was signifying a different response. One said: "If you watch the whole clip, she is clearly waiting and is also smiling and interacting with the group so think this is being made out to be something it is not!"
Trump, who will be accompanied by his wife, Melania to the UK today on an unprecedented second state visit, was first hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II back in June 2019. During the 2019 visit, more than 6,300 police officers were deployed at a cost to London's Metropolitan Police of £3.4m.

Donald Trump's state visit this year will begin on September 16 and will last until September 18. The trip comes two months after the president spent four days in Scotland, where he met politicians and visited his golf courses.
The Trumps will be treated to all the bells and whistles of a normal state visit, with a Red Arrow flypast and a special Beating Retreat military ceremony on arrival.
On Wednesday, the Trumps will travel to Windsor Castle, where they will be greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales before being formally welcomed by Their Majesties. A traditional state banquet will be held at the castle, during which both the King and president will deliver speeches.
During their visit, the US President and the First Lady will also visit St George’s Chapel to privately pay their respects to the late Queen and lay a wreath on her tomb. The couple will be given a short tour of the chapel and listen to a performance by the chapel choir.
