Prince Harry was labelled a "foil" for Meghan Markle's appearances by a royal expert who praised him for his recent solo appearances in the US.

The Duke of Sussex attended a series of events in New York this week to mark Climate Week and he is set to travel to the UK soon to attend an event in London on September 30.

Harry was not joined by his wife, who is neither set to join him in the UK.

Now royal expert Hilary Fordwich claimed that Harry's trip to New York has been a success and his solo excursions for worthy causes can pave the path to changing the public's perception about him and making him seem "relevant".

She told Fox News: "Thus far, his NYC trip has been a success for Harry because he has stuck to what he is good at, being empathetic for a worthy cause, just like his mother was.. "Refraining from criticizing his own family and whining constantly about his very privileged life is far more endearing. Indeed, it could be a first step on the path back to being relevant."

"Harry’s London appearance marks another significant event without Meghan Markle by his side," said Fordwich. "Actually, it’s been more than the other way around as he has been dubbed the ‘plus one.’"

"Even worse than a ‘spare,’ he has been relegated to more of a foil for Meghan Markle’s appearances," she claimed.

The Duke of Sussex has previously said he is worried about bringing his wife and children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the UK because of his ongoing battle with the UK Government regarding his security arrangements.

Meanwhile, the Duchess is known to have been staying at home regularly to look after their two children.
