Meghan Markle must feel "embarrassed" over her "Spotify era" as the duchess is set for a huge "rethink" of her brand ahead of her future podcast work with Lemonada Media, an expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex secured a lucrative £15.8 million deal with steaming giant Spotify in December 2020, just months after their sensational exit from the Royal Family.

But the couple saw their deal axed last summer, after only producing one show - Archetypes.

The podcast series was one of Spotify's most popular since its launch in August 2022 with more than 10 million downloads/listens.

Earlier this year, Meghan struck a new deal with podcast distributor Lemonoda Media.

The new show, which has not been named yet, will be hosted by Meghan herself, while the company will also distribute Archetypes to all its podcast platforms.

However, after Meghan's announcement that she'll be working on a new cooking show for Netflix and the launch of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, her podcast project got put on ice until next year.

Now royal commentator Gareth Russell claimed that the former Suits actress must feel "embarrassed" over her fallout with her previous podcast distributor, Spotify.

He told GB News: "I don't think it would be unnatural for the Sussexes and their team to have felt embarrassment about the quite high profile and high publicity criticism that their Spotify era garnered and the comments that were made personally about their work ethic by people who had worked with them.

"It would be perfectly understandable if they were embarrassed by that or if they were delaying things."

He added: "However, it could also be that they are having a tactical rethink about what messages and what contents they put out into the world.

"We do know that they've recruited a new team of public relations and publicity experts.

"So it could simply be that they're pivoting to something different under advice from them."
