Prince Harry's nomination for the Pat Tillman Award shows how his life has taken "a sad turn", according to an author.

The Duke of Sussex has so far not confirmed whether he will accept the honour, named after a former NFL player who joined the US Army after 9/11 and served in Iraq and Afghanistan before being killed by friendly fire. Following Pat Tillman's death in Afghanistan, an award was created in his honour and this year it is due to go to Prince Harry.

But author Douglas Murray claimed the Duke of Sussex is "not doing, but receiving awards as if he is doing".

Speaking on Sky News Australia, he said: "We shouldn't say they [Prince Harry and Meghan Markle] win awards, but they get gifted them by the sorts of people they hang out with."

Mr Douglas said the award is a reminder of the "sad turn" in Prince Harry's life. He said: "There was an awful lot he could have been a really meaningful figurehead for and, like his grandfather the late Duke of Edinburgh who set up the Duke of Edinburgh awards, that could have been the Prince Harry awards."

The author added: "It's part of the inferno one would not want to live in."

ESPN explained that they had chosen to honour the Duke for his "tireless work in making a positive impact for the veteran community through the power of sport" with his Invictus Games.

Meghan Markle 'ready' to sit down with Royal Family - but she's still 'genuinely hurt'

Meghan Markle is said to be "ready to sit down" with the Royal Family for reconciliation talks after four years of barely any contact, as she thinks a good relationship with her in-laws would "help her sell her jam", according to a royal commentator.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been estranged from the Firm since they stepped down as working royals in 2020 and moved to the US.

Ever since then, they've made a series of sensational claims against the royals and the rift between the camps is thought to be so deep that Meghan reportedly "never wanted to set foot in Britain ever again".

But now a royal commentator claimed that the Duchess is ready to reunite with her estranged in-laws, despite being "genuinely hurt".

Meghan Markle's 'unforgivable' move which caused Royal Family's 'biggest crisis'

Meghan Markle has been criticised by a royal commentator who accused her of causing "unforgivable" stress to the late Queen Elizabeth and suggested her arrival to the Royal Family was the "biggest crisis" in the history of the Firm.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world back in 2020 when they announced their intentions to step down as working royals and move to the US.

Since their sensational departure, they've released a number of explosive claims about the royals through a series of interviews, their Netflix show Harry & Meghan, and Harry's memoir, Spare.

These claims and their overall approach towards the royals were enough to cause an "unforgivable" amount of stress to the late Queen during the last few years of her life, according to royal historian and biographer Hugo Vickers.

Prince Harry could return permanently to the UK in 10 years to rejoin the Royal Family, a royal historian has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been enjoying a lavish lifestyle in Montecito, California after they quit their royal duties and moved to the US in 2020.

The couple have been estranged from the Royal Family ever since their sensational exit and are barely on speaking terms with most members of the Firm.

But now a royal historian has suggested that the Duke of Sussex will return to his homeland in 10 years time.

Prince Harry's move which made Prince William 'livid' as late Queen left 'uncomfortable'

Prince William and Prince Harry allegedly got into an argument over protocol which left the heir to the throne "livid" just before the royal wedding in 2018, according to the Duke's memoir, Spare.

The Duke of Sussex alleged that his older brother was furious for more than a week after he was allowed a perk William couldn't have - a beard.

According to Harry's memoir, published in early 2023, just before his wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19, the prince asked his late grandmother about whether he could keep his beard for his wedding.

Prince George's very strict travel rule that he'll be forced to follow after 12th birthday

Prince George will soon have to follow a very strict royal rule when it comes to travelling, just like his father, the Prince of Wales did when he turned 12.

While there are many protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of the Royal Family when they travel, there is one strict rule which aims to protect the line of succession.

According to the rule, it is against royal protocol that two heirs to the throne to travel together.

Prince Harry faces ‘isolation’ from military community ahead of award show

Despite the Duke of Sussex set to be presented with the Pat Tillman Award later this month, he risks facing "isolation" from the military community, a royal commentator believes.

There has been significant controversy over the decision to give Prince Harry the Pat Tillman Award for his work with the Invictus Games, which celebrates the sporting achievements of wounded, sick and injured service people.

The award is named after the former professional American footballer, who gave up his work in the sport to join the armed forces in the wake of 9/11. Tillman was tragically killed in Afghanistan, where Harry also served in 2004.

Gareth Russell, a royal commentator, told GB News that Prince Harry had previously received backlash from the military community, which he claims stems from comments the Duke made in his bombshell memoir, Spare.

Zara Tindall 'just as important' as Princess Beatrice and Eugenie in royal pecking order

Although Zara Tindall hasn't got a title of her own, that hasn't stopped her from rising through the royal ranks and being regarded in the same esteem as the Princesses of York, a source tells Express.co.uk.

In fact, Princess Anne's daughter is proving such a success for the Firm that the Royal Family are considering elevating her public profile to account for her newfound popularity.

"Zara is probably the most popular within the family," the source said.

"She has great relationships with the King and Queen, William and Kate, the Yorks and the Edinburghs."

"The only ones she doesn't really have a great connection with are Harry and Meghan but that's not really a revelation. The rest of the Royal Family have similar feelings."

Body language expert describes how King Charles really felt about Keir Starmer becoming PM

After Labour's landslide victory in the general election, Sir Keir Starmer went to Buckingham Palace to meet with King Charles who had invited him to form a new administration.

Protocol means exact details of the conversation, which happens behind closed doors, are kept secret from the public and between the two parties.

However, the monarch had invited the Labour leader to officially become Prime Minister and to form a government during which a series of official photographs and a short video of their introduction were released to mark the visit.

According to body language expert Judi James their gestures hint at what they might have been saying or thinking. Speaking to the Mirror, Judi James said the initial handshake looked firm and friendly.

Judi explained: "The poses from that point though show an unusual proximity between them as they continue to clasp hands and chat, almost like established friends."

Meghan Markle and Princess Kate have both broken this strict Wimbledon rule

Princess Kate and Meghan Markle are both royal fashion icons and have regularly attended Wimbledon in the past, but both have committed a big fashion no-no while there.

The pair were snapped in the Royal Box together in 2018 and 2019. However, Meghan has been attending the tournament in SW19 since before she even married Prince Harry.

Both Kate and Meghan's sartorial choices in the Box have attracted comment, yet they may have upset some Wimbledon officials by wearing hats.

Guests in the Royal Box at Wimbledon are requested to dress "smart", but women are "asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them".

King Charles's slimmed-down monarchy is ‘looking a bit threadbare’, royal expert warns

At the very beginning of his reign, King Charles spoke of a “slimmed-down” monarchy more in keeping with modern Britain.

However, with both Princess Kate and the Princess Royal sidelined by health woes, and the King himself undergoing treatment for cancer, the Royal Family is “looking pretty bare at the moment,” according to the Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers.

“You've got the King pretty much just getting back to business as it stands at the moment“ Russell said on the Mirror's Pod Save the King podcast, before adding: “The Princess of Wales, no plans to return imminently whatsoever.”

Prince Philip warned late Queen about Meghan Markle as he was 'wary' about one thing

Prince Philip reportedly had his concerns about Meghan Markle right from when she first together with Prince Harry and tried to warn Queen Elizabeth, according to an expert.

The late Queen and many of the royals welcomed the former actress into the family circle, but her husband was apparently always "wary" of her and her "charm offensive".

Comparisons were made between Meghan and another American who married into the Firm back in the 1930s - Wallis Simpson, known as the Duchess of Windsor after she married Edward VIII.
