Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster revealed he and fiancée Olivia Henson wanted to include nods to their heritage and highlight the beauty of Cheshire with their flower arrangements.

The couple is due to tie the knot at Chester Cathedral at 12pm today [June 7] surrounded by 400 guests, including Prince William.

Hugh and Olivia confirmed that the flowers used at their wedding have all been sourced locally in a show of support for the "Flowers from Farm" network, which works with artisan growers.

The aisle of the cathedral is to be lined with birch trees that will later be planted on the estate of the Duke's ancestral home, Eaton Hall.

In a statement released before the nuptials, a spokesperson for the happy couple said: "All the flowers for the wedding service are 100 percent British, with the couple choosing seasonal flowers sourced from local growers through the ‘Flowers from the Farm’ network, which champions artisan growers.

"Much of the foliage for the wedding has also been selected from the grounds of Grosvenor’s Eaton Estate.

"Designed by floral studio Flower & Press, the flowers include rambling roses, philadelphus, campanula and orlaya grandiflora, while birch trees will line the Cathedral."

Philadelphus, the scientific name of mock oranges, are known for their fragrant flowers and symbolise brotherly love.

Campanulas are typically used to express feelings of humility, support and everlasting love while the orlaya grandiflora traditionally symbolises patience and perseverance.

The Duke of Westminster and Ms Henson confirmed the flower arrangements would then be repurposed and made into smaller bouquets before being donated to local charities as a sign of their appreciation.

The spokesperson added: "After the wedding, the flowers will be repurposed, with all possible flowers made into bouquets and delivered to local charities, churches and organisations, including those with whom the Grosvenor family have a close association. The birch trees will be relocated to Eaton.

"The Duke and Miss Henson have taken a great deal of care in planning the wedding, putting their own personal stamp on all the arrangements and have made a conscious effort to involve local and regional suppliers in several aspects of the day."

The couple also thanked members of the public for the love shown to them ahead of their wedding and for their messages of well-wishes.

They said: "This is an incredibly special day for the Duke and Miss Henson and they are very much looking forward to the service…

"The couple have also been moved by the messages of support they have received from around the region and are hugely grateful that people want to share in their happiness."
